Gather any necessary materials beforehand.

Using_Grouping_Shapes.doc Grouping_Cards.doc I have used this. I find it is fun. Now some classes were not as cooperative as others they try to switch their cards, so beware. Try it out anyway. It is a fun way of breaking up students who are too "cliquish".
